Friday 20 July

14:00 Campsite opens

20:00 Rapper sword tour of town centre pubs by Maltby Sword and Old School Rapper

20:00 Maritime Session, top deck, Castle Barge – John Bowden & Vic Shepherd

          lead a session of songs from the sea, canals, rivers, etc.


Saturday 21 July

10:45 Morris procession, Bridge Street to Town Pump via Church Walk and the Market Place

11:00 Opening of the festival by Mr Tony Roberts, Mayor of Newark, at the bear baiting post,

          Market Place; performance of The Bull dance by Rattlejag Morris.

11:00 Demonstrations and displays by the Notts Guild of Spinners, Weavers & Dyers,

         Castle Gardens

11:00 – 13.20   Song Session with  John Bowden & Vic Shepherd - Fox and Crown

11:20 Dancing and folk plays throughout the town:

          Castle Gardens, Market Place, Appletongate

12:00 Guitar workshop with John Statter - Easy Open D guitar: English, Irish and American songs,    

          Friends Meeting House

12:00 – 14:00 Kids' crafts in the Castle Grounds: making ribbon sticks and ribbon headdresses.

12:30 Mi and Bambini singing in the Castle Gardens

14:00 Music session, Fox & Crown – slow and steady

         (good for beginners & improvers – all instruments welcome) with John Statter

16:15 Guided walk – explore the history of Newark with Sam Millard:

          meet on the Town Hall steps in the Market Place

19:00 Music session Clay Tavern with Neil Cardwell

19:30 Hanging Johnny song session with lots of choruses, Just Beer

19:30 Ceilidh with Malt Whiskers and Chris Rose, Town Hall Ballroom (£5 on the door)

20:00 Concert with Paul & Liz Davenport and guests – Town Hall Council Chamber

          Paul & Liz launch their latest CD 'Shadows in the Mist' with support from

           John Bowden & Vic Shepherd,


Sunday 22 July

11:00 Longsword dance workshop with Paul Davenport (Maltby Sword), Town Hall Ballroom

11:00 'The Rufford Park Poachers', illustrated talk by Sam Millard, Town Hall Council Chamber

12:00 Morris dancing begins in the Castle Gardens & Market Place

12:00 – 14:00 Kids' crafts in the Castle Grounds: making ribbon sticks and ribbon headdresses.

12:30 Scottish Country Dancing workshop by the Newark Scottish Country Dance Society,

          Town Hall Ballroom

13:00 Song session with Paul & Liz Davenport, upstairs, Prince Rupert

13:00 Song Session with Tom Lane, Fox & Crown

14:00 Scottish Country Dance with the Newark Scottish Country Dance Society,
